Welcome
Garfield Elementary is an accelerated school that
serves 364 students in grades kindergarten through
sixth. The principal of Garfield is Mary Wharton
Thorson and there are 13 professional staff
members.
In additon, there are the following professional
support staff: psychologist, social worker, teacher
consultant, speech and language therapist, resource
teacher, homebound and hospitalized services, art
teacher, music teacher, physical education teacher,
instrumental music teacher, and a Suzuki violin
teacher.
Assisting in keeping the builidng operating in an
organized manner, keeping the building clean,
serving nutritious food, and helping teachers and
students are: a secretary, custodians, lunchroom
personnel, paraprofessionals, a media technician,
and a parent involvement coordinator.
