VANDALISM
Two Cars Vandalized in Colvin's Glen
Both Incidents Occurred In Mid July
Two cars were vandalized recently in Colvin's Glen. One was parked in a driveway and the other on the street side in the area of the crossroads of Delta Glen Court and Dunn Meadow Road. The vandal deep keyed an entire side of both cars and on one car also keyed the hood. One car was definitely damaged sometime during the night of Thursday, 15 July or the early morning of Friday, 16 July. The other was damaged sometime between Wednesday,14 July and Monday, 19 July. Given the overlap in the two time frames, it is possible that both cars were vandalized at roughly the same time.
The two car owners separately reported the incidents to the Fairfax County police.
Given the extensive and expensive damage to both cars in these two deep keyings, both victims warned Colvin's Glen residents to protect their cars by parking them in garages and avoiding parking in front of residences, especially on street sides.
CALLING ALL DOG WALKERS
Swell the Ranks of Neighborhood Watch
The Neighborhood Watch program involving daily car routes, which has been running efficiently for many years, is calling on all dog walkers to join its efforts.
The good news for dog walkers is that no obligation is involved. No schedules. No report logs. No vests marked "Colvin's Glen Neighborhood Watch".
All that is wanted is to use your walks, whenever you choose to take them, to look for any unusual activity in the neighborhood. If you do see something that appears suspicious and might need immediate investigation, please call 911 and report it to the Fairfax County Police which has asked citizens to do just this. If the incident does not need immediate investigation, please report it to the Fairfax County Police non-emergency number: 703 691 2131.
Given the recent vandalism in the neighborhood and the bottle bombs in Great Falls, there is a need for as much observation of the neighborhood as is possible. Dog walkers can help.
One of the recent vandalism victims just got an estimate for repairing the damage to his car: $2,000. How good it would have been had a dog walker happened to walk by at the time of the keying incidents. It is not an impossibility. One example: not too long ago a quarterback of the University of South Carolina's football team keyed one of his professor's cars but was seen doing so by someone walking by at the time. It was bad news for the quarterback but good news for the professor.
