•The Carthay Circle Neighborhood Association, (CCNA) is a fully accredited, non-profit corporation that is registered with the State of California.
There has been a Carthay Circle Home Owners Association since the early 1920's.
The (previously named) C.C.H.O. Association...
now known as...
the Carthay Circle Neighborhood Association...which also includes renters, as well as home owners... still continues to strive to protect the integrity, architecture, and essence of this very special place.
•What is the purpose of the CCNA?
The CCNA has many roles in our community, but generally speaking the association is interested in maintaining the quality of life... and preserving the aesthetic, as well as historic, integrity of our charming neighborhood.
As an example.... members of the CCNA were instrumental in having Carthay Circle designated as a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, [HPOZ] in 1998, thereby protecting the historical, architectural, and very real property values of the entire Carthay Circle community.
Compiled data indicates that (partially) due to the HPOZ protected status designation...that the value of Carthay Circle properties has increased significantly since the neighborhood was zoned as an HPOZ.
The CCNA has been instrumental in the opposition to and successful thwarting of commercial businesses that sought to encroach upon the residential zones of the Carthay Circle community and in doing so, disrupt the quality of life in the neighborhood.
Although the CCNA appreciates progress, growth, and neighborhood commerce and supports local businesses in our neighborhood, in order to maintain the historical value and integrity of Carthay, there must be limits to the loss of further residential zones / properties, as well as reasonable limits to the loss of quality of life in the community.
The CCNA stays informed of any proposals made to the City that would affect the quality of life for Carthay Residents. Such as involvement with limiting establishments like night clubs from springing up within or exceptionally near our neighborhood boundaries or curtailing businesses from operating illegally out of homes, etc.
The CCNA has contributed to the beautification of several areas of Carthay Circle in the past, and has several current projects in the works to further preserve, nurture, and improve the neighborhood we all live in, and love.
The Carthay Circle Neighborhood Association also has a genuine interest in and desire to foster a true sense of "community" within our neighborhood. To this end, the CCNA strives to provide occasions for increased neighbor interaction and communication, such as regularly scheduled General CCNA Meetings (akin to a townhall meeting for neighborhood concerns), a regularly published CCNA Newsletter, participation in and support of the annual Los Angeles Conservancy HPOZ Home Tour, and social events such as the Carthay Circle Neighborhood Block Party [last held in September 2003].
•Who are the members of the Carthay Circle Neighborhood Association?
Well, we hope it will be you, and all of our neighbors who reside in this beautiful and historic neighborhood.
And that's why we need your participation and input.
If you're not already a CCNA Member, we invite you to learn more about the Carthay Circle community on this website, and encourage you to join your fellow neighbors in making our neighborhood the best it can be.
And if you are already a member, we hope you enjoy the site, find it useful and informative, and hope you tell other Carthay Circle neighbors all about it.
•But who exactly ARE the members of the CCNA who are helping to steer productive works in our community? How does it work?
The CCNA has Officers, Block Captains, and Committees which cooperate in tandem with the Carthay Circle community and Los Angeles City officials (when necessary), to foster a productive and peaceful quality of life in our neighborhood.
Each street in the Carthay Circle neighborhood has general membership elected Block Captains; persons who are knowledgable members of the CCNA and your link to the CCNA for any matters regarding your street, or the neighborhood in general.
This website is currently in transition, and is a temporary site, while the NEW Carthay Circle Neighborhood Website is in the process of being created. Your patience is greatly appreciated. We hope to have the NEW SITE up and running at 100% as soon as possible.
