MAXIMIZING RESOURCES for SAFETY

SAFETY UPDATE - January 26, 2005

Mary Glass, Chair/CEO held a CALLED MEETING to address the heightened robberies and robbery/murder that took place along North Avenue and Fond du Lac Avenue.

Sergeant Harold Hamilton was strategic in helping to pull together officers of the Police Department of address the concerns of business owners/merchants in the area.

The robberies at Advance Auto Parts and Autozone were both committed on a Sunday evening just before closing.

The robbery/murder of Mr. John Jackson - J& J Lounge was also within the last week. The rumors had mounted and merchants and residents were showing great concerns regarding the lack of seen law enforcement.

The meeting was very fruitful. Not only did the Captain Donald Gaglione and Officer Shelley Lubus from 7th District address questions regarding the robberies, they were able to share information regarding the Alarm process and a Business Survey through the police department.

Business Survey - A business can call the district in which they are in and sign-up for a visit by the police department to help provide "Safety Steps" for the business.

We are encouraging all our merchants to give their district a jingle and get signed-up.

Also, the police department is yet responding to "burgulary" alarms. For clarity of any process or procedure, call the following:

3rd District - 935-7232
5th District - 935-7252
7th District - 935-7272
