On April 22, 2005, the 35th Year of Earth Day, a day started by Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin in 1970, CFNBA launch its youth awareness safety project.

GROCERY BAG
The Safety Grocery Bag Project is a spin-off of the annual grocery bag project that focuses on the environment.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
The project is to "increase AWARENESS" of safety in our schools, homes, churches, social organizations and neighborhoods. It allows students to work in cooperation with family, school or their organization to send a positive message to the public regarding the importance of safety.

The project calls for students with their parent(s), class, organization, or church to create a "safety poster" on a grocery bag around the slogan:
"Safety Prevention and Safety Intervention is Everybody's Business".

The student, class or school coordinator would get grocery bags (students can recycle bags and used them for the safety poster OR the school coordinator or parent can ask a local grocery to donate a number of grocery bags.

The bags should be "paper" and one side "clear" for the safety art poster.

Winners will be selected on May 20, 2005. Prizes include certificates, coupons, ribbons and trophies.

ALL COME
We launched the project with Milwaukee Public School's Middle School students at the Milwaukee Police Academy, however, we welcome participation by all school age students and all schools.
