PROSECUTION & RACIAL JUSTICE EVENTS, October 9-10, 2007

WHERE

The Prosecution & Racial Justice Reception and Briefing was sponsored by Campaign Neighborhood - CFNBA on October 9 (5-7:30pm) and October 10 (8-10am).

The event site: Marquette University, Sensenbrenner Hall.

WHO/WHAT

The Prosecution and Racial Justice Pilot Project has been selected as one of the key parts of the Justice Should Matter Series Initiative.

The Justice Should Matter Initiative is part of the 5-Year Signature Plan (2005-2010) to link stakeholders in Milwaukee for neighborhood governance and self-sustainability.

The Prosecution & Racial Justice Pilot Project is a "process" being conducted by Attorney Wayne McKenzie and members of the VERA Institute.

The pilot study is documenting racial disparies with the design to correct. There are three office of District Attorneys involved in the United States.

The Special Guest Speaker for the events is: Attorney Wayne McKenzie, Program Director, VERA Institute, New York.

He was introduced by District Attorney John Chisholm, Milwaukee County. DA Chisholm is one of the three DA districts being evaluated in the pilot study.

Mary Glass, Chair/CEO was the Moderator for the events.

The folk that came out were State Representative Tamara Grigsby, 18th District - Milwaukee, community stakeholders, social service organization leaders, law students and Marquette professors.

We are in the process of recruitment for Volunteers for the Justice Should Matter Series Council.
