This post was addressed to the Mayor. Has anyone else noted that people have commented on the question, but none of them is the mayor? What is the answer Mayor? |

Just to confuse you more - Actually Jefferson County owned North Chadwick and it was a Jefferson County police substation on Whipps Mill. With the city/county merger North Chadwick now belongs to the City of Louisville. Louisville is still a great city and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! Do you live in Louisville or Bellemeade? I checked out that Metro website and am even more confused. How many police jurisdictions are there in this ________. I don't know whether to call it a city, a county, a Metro, or a whatever. Do all of these little cities answer to Metro? I bet some streets get neglected because it would be easy to say that doesn't belong to me, it belongs to so and so. Who collects the taxes? Why did the original poster address his comments to the Mayor? The commission duty thingy dingy says streets are the responsibility of Commissioner Hill. |

I live in Louisville and pay Louisville/Jefferson County property taxes. I also live in Bellemeade and pay Bellemeade property taxes. My Bellemeade property tax mainly pays for trash/recyling/yard waste pickup, street lights, street maintenance (except for N. Chadwick) and landscaping common areas plus a few other things. Fifty or more years ago many neighborhoods in Jefferson County, outside of Louisville city limits, incorporated to receive group prices such as trash pickup. If you lived in an unincorporated part of Jefferson County you had to individualy pay for services such as trash pickup. My in-laws had to do this and paid over $300.00 for trash/recycling/yard waste pickup. So many neighborhoods incorporated to negotiated a group price. Residents inside the old City of Louisville pay higher urban district taxes.
