Capitol Hill is situated on a hillside just east of the city's central business district, one of Seattle' oldest neighborhoods and its most densely populated. Housing on the hill is an ecelectic mix of condominiums, apartments, modest single family homes and breathtaking old mansions. Capitol Hill is a destination neighborhood for its acclaimed restaurants, lively night life, shopping, movies, art galleries, live theatre and nationally recognized community college. The hill has spectacular views of downtown, Lake Union, Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains to the west, and the Cascade mountain range and Lake Washington to the east. In 2014, Capitol Hill will become linked to regional light rail, making a trip to downtown, South Seattle or the airport easier than ever. By 2016, the light rail connection north to the University District and Northgate Mall will be complete. Capitol Hill already boasts excellent bus service, and many residents of the hill don't find the need to own a car.
