Laura McCoy is a 12 year homeowner in the neighborhood, and is constantly remodeling and updating her 1929-built, two-bedroom home, that she calls 'the farm.'

"When I was looking to buy a house, I wanted a lot of trees and space to plant flowers and a garden.  My dream was to have an urban space with a rural feel -- a spot with lots of trees and grass and bushes and flowers. I found it in the house I ended up purchasing.  My backyard has walnut, fig, plum, and lemon trees, and a host of exotic trees and plants.  Two years ago I planted lavendar in my front yard that gives off a lovely fragrance and hands-full of flowers that I stick in vases around the house.  I had already planted star jasmine about four years earlier, which flourishes and it is such a joy to see bloom once per year.  There were two kinds of rose bushes when I bought the house and they've continue to blossom each year.  Honestly, I don't have the green thumb I wish I did so I tend to let mother earth do her thing and so far I have been rewarded with a bounty of flowers and fruit each year. "

An animal lover, she lives with two dogs and an 18 year old black cat named Skeet who is known for escorting neighbors to and from their cars. 

She holds a two-year degree in graphic design, a Bachelors degree in communications and marketing and is completing a graduate degree in online teaching and learning. She holds a certificate in online teaching and learning from California State University East Bay and a certificate in leadership from The Institute for Leadership Empowerment (TILE).

She loves hiking, sunbathing, reading, fiction writing, and cooking.  Her spare time is spent writing fiction and watching television.  She is a rapid movie watcher.

She dreams of a career as a movie script writer or television series writer.
