Save Charlotte's Trees!

Charlotte's trees are under attack – The Cankerworm infestation is at plague level proportions. It is actively spreading and causing the tree canopy to die. Cankerworms are the small "inchworms" that will completely strip the leaves of a large shade tree in a single day. Repeated defoliations have tripled the death rate of city maintained trees in less than a decade. Drought and lack of fertilization add to the adverse impact.

The best option for the control of this pest is aerial spraying of Bt, an organic bacteria which kills the cankerworms. Bt is a commonly used product that is harmless to humans, pets, or other wildlife.

Let the city leaders know how important Charlotte's trees are to you. City Council meets in early September to decide whether to spray or not. If spraying isn't done, our signature urban forest will simply cease to exist.

Contact City Council to let them know Wilmore wants its trees!

Contact your City Councilperson, let them know how much you care about our trees, and urge them to support spraying the cankerworms.
