Why do we bother to post a 30 mph speed limit?

The new Texas Motor Speedways known as Green River Trail, Saint Lawrence, and Lake Louise ought to have speed bumps installed.  Even Lake Charles South has its share of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. wannabes.  I can hardly back out of my driveway without a near miss nowadays.  Even though I look both ways before starting to back up, someone flying around either corner at top speed appears almost instantly.

Strategically placed speed traps on the above streets during morning and evening rush hour periods would be a revenue bonanza for the FWPD.  People are flying through these streets upwards of 45 miles per hour and endangering neighbors and their pets on foot, as well as other drivers.

Turning wide into the opposite lane at high speed, particularly at the corners of Green River and Lake Louise off Saint Lawrence and in the left-turn lane into WLH on Blue Lake from Bridge Street is a real safety hazard.  The corner-cutting driver evidently could care less whether there is another car in the opposite lane waiting to turn.  You, as the other driver, apparently are responsible for detecting these clowns and getting the hell out of the way without getting hit.

Be wary of pulling up directly to the intersection on these roads, and especially in the left-turn lane from eastbound Bridge Street onto Blue Lake; the drivers exiting I-30 turning west onto Bridge Street will run right into your front end if you pull up to the line; stay back at least ten feet from the intersection if you want to keep your car intact.
