About Our Club

Waikiki Health Center

Primary Care Medical Clinic

At Waikiki Health Center, we look at health in the sense of the whole person, not just physical health. The Primary Care Medical Clinic is at the heart of the Waikiki Health Center's programs and services. Patients are treated in a caring, personal manner and provided services and referrals to improve their overall well-being.

The cost of health care has risen dramatically over the last decade. As a result, quality medical care is out of reach for a growing number of people. Our goal is to provide high quality, low-cost, professional care. We accept most forms of insurance, including MedQuest, and offer a sliding fee scale for the uninsured.

Medical care is provided on-site by a team of physicians, nurses, health educators and volunteers. Available services include physical exams, general medical care, long term treatment for chronic problems, health education, immunizations and TB tests, services for the elderly, family planning and education, screening and treatment for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Our Character and Philosophy

The Waikiki Health Center is committed to being resourceful, supportive and accountable to the community it serves. We believe that low-cost medicine means quality medicine and anyone who comes for services is deserving of the best care that we can provide.

At the Waikiki Health Center we are committed to .....
* Providing cost effective quality programs and service excellence.
* Promoting the basic human rights, dignity, health and safety of the people we serve.
* Respecting the choices and diversity of the people we serve.
* Providing services that are innovative, responsive, acceptable, and appropriate to the changing needs of the individual and the community.

Health Care Programs Offered

CARE-A-VAN
Many people in need have difficulty finding and obtaining available services, so we bring the services to them. This is the concept behind Care-A-Van. Established in 1987, this innovative progam provides medical and social services to the homeless throughout Oahu. Two medically equipped vans, each staffed by a nurse and an outreach specialist, locate homeless individuals and offer assistance which includes:
*Acute minor medical care
*Advocacy and counseling
*Emergency food and clothing
*Assistance locating housing
*Referrals to other service organizations

YOUTH OUTREACH PROJECT
The Youth Outreach Project is a collaborative effort between Waikiki Health Center and Hale Kipa, Inc. Hale Kipa administers the social services aspects of the program while the Waikiki Health Center provides medical and health education services including:
*Teen clinic open 3 days a week
*Primary health care and health screening
*Family planning services
*STD/HIV education and prevention
*Substance abuse counseling

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORS
The goal of the program is to support isolated elderly residents of Waikiki through volunteer assistance. Simple things like a friendly visit or an uplifting phone conversation can brighten a senior's day. And receiving help with light housekeeping or getting a ride to a medical appointment helps elderly people maintain their independence.

HO'OALIKE (Hawaiian Program)

WELLNESS PROGRAM
This program is a 12 week pilot project
