School begins for Metro students next Monday, August 12th. Because many children in our neighborhood ride school busses, this is a good time to start thinking about safety issues.
Remember to drive SLOWLY through the neighborhood during times when children are present. With there being so many cul-de-sacs in our neighborhood, this is especialy important, because you never know when a child may dart out onto Village Trail, racing to catch a bus.
Please STOP on both sides of the street when a bus has its "STOP" sign out to load or unload children. Children should be reminded to cross the street IN FRONT of the bus where he / she can be easily seen by drivers.
If possible, bus stops should be MONITORED by an adult when children are waiting in the mornings. Our children are vulnerable, and it is up to us to ensure their safety.
Gettng a good education is the most important work of our children. Working together, we can ensure they can do it safely!
