A Few Questions About Services

This is open to anyone,

Would a better system had been to pay per bag of garbage? I believe Upper Arlington has a system where you have to purchase stickers to place on your garbage bag or they will not pick it up.

That might have been an option and could have saved the residents who do not generate a lot of garbage some money. My neighbor at most generates one bag of garbage a week and it seems unfair for her to have to pay the full price to supplement the other families that generate a lot more garbage.

I do not believe that the Council even looked at this option.

Another option to have saved money would have been to have a central recyclables pick up point. The curbside recycling could have been replaced with bins down at the Village Hall and people could have taken their recycables there. That would have saved money for the residents. It would have placed a burden on people to get it to the bins, but it would have saved $4-$5 a month probably.

Again, I do not believe that the Council looked at that option either.

It seems that the Council is not investigating the options for residents. A little homework may have saved some of the residents money.

What are anyone else's thoughts? I see some options that the Council may not have looked into to save those that are on fixed incomes some money. The burden would have been placed on the homes that generated the most garbage.

Would you use recycling bins at the Village Hall if they did away with curbside pickup?

Options

the options you asked the stickers would be good for the folks who only have small amounts of trash and the ones who have a lot might be more
apt to recycle. As far as taking our recycled items to the hall for proper
disposal it would work for us.
I walk daily and I noticed a lot of waste management trash bins still being used and our present collectors Rumpke are dumping them. I called Waste Mangement to pick ours up and I leased my bin from Rumpke had I known it didn't matter I wouldn't have got rid of ours and been able to save $2.00 a month.
Our council it seems are more worried about speed linits from 25 to 14 mph and building covered bridges.
Options and Opinions !

Watkins and the hand picked council would say, ''Who cares, the residents don't have a vote at council.''

No one wants to stand up for what they believe or what the residents want.

No one said anything when Russolillo had a meeting with Rumpke and they picked up Polly''s trash when she started her catering business. Did they pay extra for the business?

Watkins can't take care of his own finances, what made you think he would or could help the Village?

It is amazing that Parrish now is saying the same things he said about the former council. He got what he wanted. Is the man never satisfied?

I feel that

I feel that, as you said, this situation was not looked into properly as when I called Waste Managment they said because the information was supplied to them about the address of all the homes from the hall, that if anyone wanted to NOT have their trash picked up the home owner would have to write the village hall a letter stating they do not want pick up and then the village hall would have to call Waste Managment to have that address removed from pick up.
I also feel that the price is to much for us that have a limited income and making a bin avaiable at the hall for other recycling is a great idea.
I have not been able to go to the meetings and I wish that more residents would go, but saying this on this site is limited also because of a very few that visit it.
We have no more Vilage Flier, which would have been a place to have this information for the residents. The add in the Messenger was very small and very extremly limited, I did not see it and was told my another neighbor were it was located in that paper so I could read it. There again it gave no information other than that of a new trash collector and the day it starts.
Yes Paul you are correct about the tages at the residents that live in Upper Arlington. I to have very little trash and sometimes only put my trash out every other week.
Now I feel that some residents should think of banning together with neighbors that they know very well and share the pick up at one or the others house and split the expence????? Just another though for those that are on a fixed income.
I just also feel that a flier informing us about the change and the expence would have been so appropriate and would have shown the home owners the respect due them.If it was sent out, I did NOT get one and others that I have talked to did not either.
