There seems to be a problem that is occurring a lot more since the nice weather is coming....residents have installed their basketball hoops at the ends o f their driveways and their teenagers/children are playing into the streets while traffic is trying to get by.  The people that are playing are ignoring the autos and just continuing to play and even allowing the basketballs to hit the vehicles.  This is eventually going to cause a serious problem.  I think parents need to take responsibility and advise the children that they must at all times be aware of the cars in the streets and they must stop playing when they are approaching.

I am sure no one wants to end up hurting anyones children nor does anyone want their children hurt also we do not want any auto claims to arrise due to damage by the balls themselves.

This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

Just a thought, but, why don't you call your local PD, and ask them to patrol the area, siting your concerns.  I'm sure that they'll talk to the folks and you should get a positive response.  IF you know the kids parents, mentioning something to them would probably be a better way.  Tom Milder.  Muscatine, Iowa.

I agree with you that this has really become a problem. I'm not saying that the kids shouldn't be allowed to play. I think it's great to see kids outside moving around instead of playing video games! But I do agree that they need to be more mindful of the traffic. I have also had problems with being cursed at as I drive by and my husband actually had the ball thrown at his car, he ran over it and the ball was popped. This could have done a lot of damage to his car, luckily this time it didn't. So additionally I feel that there's an issue with agression on some of the kids parts. I've also noticed that some of the kids playing do not even live in our neighborhood, they are walking over from the apartments behing WAWA to play here.

I know no one wants to see anybody get hurt or anyone's property damaged. It needs to be addressed but I'm not sure what the anwer is.
