What is The Trees?

The Trees is a group of neighbors who have formed a Children's Neighborhood Network (CNN), a neighborhood-based, neighborhood-led effort to make sure all of the children in the neighborhood are safe and cared for. The Trees has expanded its mission to take an active role in making this possible for all the citizens in the neighborhood.

How it all began

With initial funding from the Sid W. Richardson Foundation the Tarrant County Youth Collaboration (TCYC) began the Children's Neighborhood Network (CNN) in March 2005. With St. Philip Presbyterian Church members providing initial neighborhood support, our neighborhood began forming it's CNN in March 2005. The Trees has:
-about 300 homes in it's geographic zone
-20+ members: neighbors, St. Philip members, and community members
-facilitated three neighborhood block parties for families and children (July 30 and November 12, 2005 and June 24, 2006). These block parties had from 125-140 in attendance.
-designed a newsletter that we take to neighbors regularly
-facilitated more than 25 neighborhood walks
-offer a family film night for all neighbors
