Homeless in the Woods?

Posted in: Towne Lake Garden

As I drive to work, I have been noticing what seems like homeless people coming out of the overgrown area across the street from Valero.  In the P.M. I notice some who are taking up residence on the north drainage ditch (between Valero and Sonia's )...Does this alarm anyone?Surprised

Are you referring to the two men and the dog?  I've seen them begging for pocket change in the Valero parking lot and one of them seems to be something less than sober many days.  They don't appear to cause any harm and one of them is really attached to the dog.

What concerns me is the proximity to the nature trail and our own neighborhood that our homeless folks are blazing trails in the wooded areas. Those trails can be used by those who have other motives other than just surviving...

The man is Danny, and his Dog is Two Keys. I don't know the other man's name. Yes, Danny and Two Keys sometimes sit at the Valero, but I've never had Danny solicit me for money. I've given him money and coffee, but he's never asked me for anything, or said anything to me other than thank you and bless you.

I believe they do make their home somewhere in the wooded area near the Salado Creek bed, but I don't know where. I must say, I don't worry about them a bit.

As far as their cutting trails that others can use, I doubt it. They're very low-key, and I don't think they want to draw attention to themselves.

I worry more about some of my neighbors than I do about Danny and his dog.
