OUR MISSION

Our ministry is dedicated to serving both the religious and social needs of our community.

OUR SERVICES

*CHMC FOOD PANTRY: Established to provide assistance to local residents. In 1999 the CHMC distributed over 700,000lbs of food to residents in the Columbus area.

*CHMC INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL: Established in 1991, we have provided training and jobs for many of our residents in the builders trade industry. Areas of training include plumbing, electrical wiring, plumbing, drywall installation, and painting. This Program is offered as a free service to all inner city residents.

*BOYS AND GIRLS BOOT CAMP OF CENTRAL OHIO: In the past we have provided free summer camp industrial trainig to hundreds of children (ages 8 through 18). Many of our participants have remained in the industrial field

*CHMC PRISON MINISTRY: We were one of the pioneers to serve as counselors for the inmate population (mothers, fathers, wives, husbands and children). We have served as advocates on the children's behalf. Our goal is to keep the family together: separation does not have to destroy the family unity.

*PROJECT COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE: we have provided free health care services to our residents including free blood pressure check up for our elderly, family (prenatal) counseling for youth; drug counseling, teenage pregnancy, health and nutrition classes (teaching youth and adults on how to prepare meals, including portion size).

*ALPHA CHRISTIAN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: Through our collaboration with the ACDA, we have assisted in the rehabilitation of vacant and abandoned properties. We have assisted many low income families obtain homes in the area.

*LINCOLN THEATER: through our collaboration with the ACDA, we are assisting in the purchase and revitalization of the historical Lincoln Theater of Columbus. This Theater is a symbolic success story of Black Economic Experience. With 38,000 sq ft, this facility has tremendous and enormous cultural and economic significance to the African American Community.
The Lincoln Theater will serve as the facility for the National Summit on the AfroAmerican People (NSAP)
NSAP will bring together the best minds to discuss the past, present, and future of the African American community and economic success.

*PERRY CENTER: we are the co-founder of the Perry Center whose mission is to promote peace and stability for Africa. Focus is on counseling recent refugees, including youth and families.

INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES: We have ministries in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, Liberia, West Africa. Through our international ministries, we have established libraries and educational programs abroad.

Awards and Honors

Rev. Dr. William R. Craig, Ph.D. is the founder and leader of the CHMC. Through his vision, we have accomplished many of our goals in this community.
Dr. Craig work is community wide. He serves on the following boards:
Trustee, Columbus Compact Corporation;
Trustee, Diverse Capital Corporation;
President and CEO, Alpha Christian Develpment Association;
Chairman, American Leadership Conference Alumni for Ohio;
Co-Founder, Perry Center in Columbus, OH
