Sherwood Forest

Sherwood Forest - Questions?

Posted in: Sherwood Forest - Memphis
HI, I am looking at buying a house in the Sherwood Forest area. I am wondering if anyone on here could give me some thoughts on the area. Whats the crime like? Is it a quiet area? Young people? Old people? Is there a neighborhood association? Does anyone think the developments on Highland and the expanding UofM campus will help the Sherwood Forest area? I think it has some potential. Thanks!

We are having a huge neighborhood yardsale this weekend.  That's a great opportunity for you to come get a feel for the neighborhood.  The ad is on Craigs List and there you can send for a map.  You'll get to actually meet some folks that live here.

There are all types.  Young singles and young couples, new families and established families and older folks that have been in the neighborhood for years.

There is a section of the neighborhood that is considered to be historic; however, no one made it official with the historic street markers etc.  Don't know what happened.  I live in that section and it is a part that does not have sidewalks immediately South of Park.  Don't know the exact boundaries otherwise.

I would say that the neighborhood's personality is different depending on which pocket you're in, but coming to the Neighborhood yardsale would give you the best idea.  It's a perfect opportunity.

I do believe Sherwood Forest and the UofM have a strong connection. They do affect each other.

Crime is here just like anywhere.  I think of the most common crime that I hear about as being theft from yards or carports, etc...but there have been break-ins and cars stolen.  You'd have to check metro crime reports for actual stats.

I think the neighborhood has potential too.
