The Phoenix Project Board of Trustees will strive to meet the organization's mission by collaborating with the youth membership through comprehensive programming involving social foundations, leadership skill building, GLBT activism, and local community involvement activities.
Social Foundations
Part of the mission of the Phoenix Project is to provide an environment for GLBT youth to become acquainted and have fun. Examples of proposed social programs include ''Cosmic Bowling'' at Varsity Lanes in Bowling Green and ''It's Friday'' at the Toledo Museum of Art.
Community Involvement
The Phoenix Project was also created to become involved in the volunteer efforts of local service organizations. Examples of proposed community programming include ''Habitat for Humanity'' and ''Adopt-A-Highway'' projects.
GLBT Activism
While it is important to help the global community, part of the Phoenix Project's mission is to educate the community and our youth membership about GLBT issues. Examples of proposed activism activities include ''Violence Prevention'' training and speaking on community GLBT panels.
Leadership Skill Building
Developing the abilities of a leader is vital to our population due to discrimination, ignorance, and violence. Examples of proposed leadership programming include ''HIV Prevention Education'' and ''Ropes Challenge Course'' participation.
By the end of the year 2000, the Phoenix Project of Northwest Ohio, Inc. will have tax exempt status, a volunteer base, and a youth membership meeting on a weekly basis. Comprehensive programming with this youth population will also be implemented.
VISION Year 2010
By January of 2010, the Phoenix Project will have developed a community youth drop-in center in Northwest Ohio. The site will be utilized by the youth population for educational and social benefits. The site will also serve to benefit those young people who are living in unhealthy family situations due to their sexual orientation.
