We need the City of Atlanta to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act Now and stop playing games with the lives of the seniors and disabled in our community and throughout the city as a whole.

MARTA Service Needs:

1) Sidewalks down Springdale Road so that seniors and seniors in both Trinity Towers and Lakewood Christian Manor can actually go to the churches in the community and get around the neighborhood since we have over 500 people in both senior highrises combined.

2) Bus Shelters on both sides of the street in front of Trinity Towers and Lakewood Christian Manor.

3) Lights surrounding the bus shelters at Trinity Towers and Lakewood Christian Manor.

4) Barriers on slopes to keep our seniors in wheelchairs from falling over embankments.

5) Cheaper price for disabled citizens who have to ride the MARTA Para Transit system who pay more than $3.50 each trip (1-way) to ride (if you needed an attendant, this is included in the price but it does not make sense to have it for one person.

MARTA's overall issue of funding is not just a MARTA issue but a statewide transit funding issue that involves the citizens of the State of Georgia changing the state constitution to allow for funding for pedestrian improvements, bike access, and transit funding. Until this happens, our seniors and disabled community members are forever being held hostage with higher costs to ride MARTA Para Transit.
