Albertson's & Surrounding Corner

Posted in: UHRA
As a resident of this neighborhood for 27 years, I have seen the corner shopping center at Michillinda and Sierra Madre Blvd. go from bad to worse. Though Albertson's gets the brunt of complaints (and some are from me), the issue is really the absentee landlord who owns the entire corner. I have spoken with management and employees at the market and also with our councilman Steve Haderlein. It seems that the owner of the property doesn't believe that we care about the appearance of our neighborhood. I would like to help Albertson's out in any way that I can. They would be receptive to applying pressure to the landlord of the property. Is it possible to get a petition going or an email campaign launched that Albertson's could pass on to its new owners (Supervalue) or the landlord of the property? This corner is the gateway to Upper Hastings Ranch, and I believe that residents do care about its appearance.

Response to Albertsons concern

I will be willing to sign up with you, in any effort to contact the owner of the property. I belive with some care the location has great potential. I wonder if the owner has a management company. Or if they are willing to let a company take charge and improve not only the value of the property but possibly his profits. I dont know if all this has already been tried to be worked out with the owners. If not maybe if we approach them in this mannor to hopfuly get a positve response. If not I am willing to help out or join up with any movement you may start
Albertson's

I believe the new manager at Albertson's has talked directly with the owner of the property, as has the builder of the new condos. He doesn't seem to care. If I knew who he was I would talk directly to him. Also, the manager at Albertson's tells me that now the new corporation that owns Albertson's, Supervalue, has placed the location on a list to consider what could be done to remodel. Any way that we could put pressure on the owner would be good. We have nothing to lose. If anyone knows the owner's name (and it is a family with parents in China and the son here), please let us know.
