Park State East Neighborhood Association

Sidewalks

Feb 28, 2005

One of the most heated issues for residents of PSE is our sidewalks. This was once again discussed at the annual meeting, but measures are now being taken. Some possibilities discussed were moving the sidewalks and arcing them around trees. Jan Greene and Mary Ann Creema are working on the necessary filings with the city. We expect to have some response to our inquiry from the city by June and will therefore hold a meeting June 8 to discuss how we will proceed. Those in attendance at that meeting will decide for the neighborhood what action will be taken. If you do not attend, your preferences will not be heard. If you cannot attend, please write a letter stating your views to Rob Carney, 8234 Park State Drive.

Petitions filed with the Division of Public Works are sent to the appropriate engineering department. When the engineers have determined a cost estimate for the project, the City will determine if City funds are available to pay for the City's share. If the petitioned project is deemed necessary and if City funds are not available, the project will be placed on a waiting list. If City funds are available, a public hearing will be held to inform property owners of the total cost of the project and what each property owner's assessment will be, if applicable. Assessments are levied once the work is completed.
