Parent Outreach

It is the vision of our agency, the Council On Mental Retardation, that all children and adults who have mental retardation be included, empowered, and valued in the community.

As a program of the Council, Parent Outreach shares information, friendship, and support with families through the lifespan of their children who are disabled.

Volunteers, Newsletters & More

Parent Outreach offers a variety of activities and information sources. On a quarterly basis, a newsletter is mailed free of charge to families, service providers & interested citizens. Parents who would like to talk one on one to an experienced Parent Volunteer are put in touch with one of our many veteran parents. Support groups and social event opportunities are ongoing throughout the calendar year.

Edna's Place

Every Tuesday from 11AM to 1PM is open discussion time. Families who find the support group meeting times difficult to make, are welcome to drop by on Tuesdays and talk to Parent Outreach staff about their concerns/needs. If Tuesday isn't good, family members can call 584-1239 and schedule another time to meet.
