A Couple of Points to Consider
There's some lack of understanding in what the FRC came up with. First, anyone who thinks I can be controlled by anyone or anything without my permission doesn't know me very well. No elected BOE member ever attend a committee meeting. Second, the committee tried to work as closely as possible with the State on this report. The critical fact is the DeJong report on growth is developed under contract to the State of Ohio and its use is essentially mandatory. Why? because that is what the OSFC will use to establish our level of funding. Right now we are eligible for upto 48% in co-funding from the state. That's right, as soon as we show we're serious by passing the required levies for the whole project, they will write a check to us for $80 - 85 million. The down side to the state's co-funding is that we have to adhere to their maintenance and rehab guidelines. So somewhere down the line, when the two middle schools are over 20 years old (not 12), we'll have to modernize them to the then current state standards.
