Our politicians needs to be taught a lesson this November that when the voters say NO to tax increases that they abide by our desires. I see in my June Insight cable bill that Violet Township imposed a 200% increase in the cable franchise fee. The recent 300% increase in the conveyance tax by the County is another example. When tax increases are presented to the voters that have no justification we say NO. The politicians then go around the voters and increase fees the voters have no say in.
However, we can make our position well known by voting out politicians that pass indirect tax increases by way of fees. Remember who those individuals are each election and vote them out.

No discussion by Trustees
Interesting to note that in the Trustees' minutes for the three meetings at which the Insight Franchise Agreement is mentioned not a single one raised the possibility of the tripling of the tax. Not one. The March 2nd minutes mentions only that the contract would not be available for a week or so.
All three trustees voted for the tripling of the tax without public discussion or disclosure of the increase.
Watch your wallets, there's more to come I'm sure.

Need candidates for Trustee
Picktown03
I am not sure if you are aware but there is a problem in this fall's election for Violet Township Trustee. The two currently up for election are going to run unopposed. There were a couple of candidates willing to run but Terry Dunlap is putting all of his money into Harry Meyers' campaign to get both of them elected because Terry is a shoe in. They have intimidated at least one challenger out of the race.
This will mean bring on the uncontrolled growth again. Terry has been very public with ''his government'' can't impose impact fees. Then even with the passage of HB 299 I doubt Terry will EVER support imposing impact and would;do just as likely feel comfortable allowing the current tax payers like yourself pay for the needed NEW infrastructure brought on by these new homes to the district.
I also understand that the TWO trustee are not supporting Gary Weltlich in working with the city. Obviously Terry and his family have a lot to gain if their family farms go commercial someday do to a JEDD.
So Picktown03 it is time for good citizens like yourself to step forward and be part of the solution. Please pick up a nominating petition ate the Board of Election and challenge the Dunlap and Meyers duo this fall. You have until August 25th.
I have heard over the last few days that Hackworth is thinking about running for trustee despite the unfinished business at City Hall.

Ted Hackworth
Is there any law preventing him from serving as a city councilman and trustee simultaneously?
I'm not in favor of voting for either trustee, but it makes no difference if they are unopposed. It will be more of the same. Gotta feel for Gary not getting support.
