Perfect Score on the ACT achieved by a Pickerington Central student.

Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Proud Tiger
Great Job!!

It is wonderful that this young man has scored a perfect 36 on his ACT test. I am also sure that his parents are not only proud but they hope this will allow their son to get into the college program he desires and it will help in the scholarship prospects next year.

The basic facts remain though these school levies are failing by a two to one ratio. If you are trying to say that because this one student received a perfect score we should all vote in favor of the next levy then you need to grow up and get a job.

The posting below also tried to belittle the parents about having biases and not voting in favor of the levy. Talking down to and insulting people is not going to change the basic facts of our local school problem. Pointing out the high achievers will not solve the problem. Facing the reality of the problem and finding a solution will someday solve the problem.

Dear Proud Tiger: Did you know that ALL OF THE OFFICERS on the Pickerington Academic Boosters live in the North High School district.

The problem many have is that we go out and work all day only to come home to a school district that we all must pay into that is TOTALLY controlled by the better half so to speak. It is insulting and degrading to not only the children but the TAX paying ADULTS. We have a school district controlled by the elite and the rest of us are treated like RED-HEADED STEP CHILDREN.

I am not sure if the kids that attend these schools care it doesn't matter they are not the ones paying the taxes.

It is time that we separate the two school areas and allow each school to develop its own tradition and its own values. If the Central H S turns out to be the higher academic school and the North is the Sports H. S. then so what? The money to both schools should be equal.

It is time that we allow the parents in the city and those that live in the Central areas to be set free to develop their own system and not be controlled by the elitists up north.

Other wise good luck in passing a levy.

By Still voting NO!!
Keep yer politics out of it!

Instead of just congratulating a kid and his parents for an extremely impressive job on his part, you had to go and inject your rant into somewhere it didn't need to be.

I do not know how the officers in the academic boosters are chosen. I presume that the meetings are open to any parent of both schools, and, in order to be an officer, you have to attend meetings and put your name in for a spot when it becomes time to elect officers. I presume that a simple majority vote for each spot determines the winner.

That means, either more North parents attend/run for election than Central parents do, or the North parents are discriminating against Central parents by actively refusing to support Central parents. I urge you to go to these meetings, be a spy and say your kid goes to North, and see if you get all kinds of catty remarks etc. toward Central kids and parents. If that is the case, go the BOE and tell them what's going on, with documentation, and tell them to straighten it out, maybe force the boosters to have equal numbers on their board. Go to the papers and spill the beans. If you are merely stating your biases, stop it, get to work, get involved, and become a positive member of this community.

Its right on the WEB site.

TP

For a person that seems to know so much about everything at the school district it appears you don't know anything.

I have told you more than once on this web site why I am not voting for another school levy yet you and your arrogant friends all have your collective heads in the sand and you don't want to listen.

You and others can't let go. That is the problem. You talk down to me as if I am a free loader here in the community at the same time I still vote and I haven't miss a vote in 10 or so years. What you and your hard headed friends can't figure out is why I don't think like you do. That problem can be expanded to the masses in the North District that can't understand why some in the city don't think like they do up North. Separate the schools and allow the values and the volunteers in the Central District to assume some of that responsibility.

How in the hell am I or anyone else is ever going to get on either a booster club or just a community volunteer when all of the open slots are filled with people up north? It is well past the time for you folks to mind your own business and let the schools seek their own levels. If the Central High School district can't raise to your expectations than that is our problem not yours. So just bug out and show some of us a little more respect and you may get a few more votes to subsidizes the Palace up north.
