Falling Home Values

Posted in: PATA
It appears that Fairfield County just imposed a 4% impact fee on all residential and commercial property in the county.

On the one hand this will help to slow the residential growth of the county unfortunately it will also dampen economic growth.

This will take a big chuck from the buyers budget in buying any property. These funds will go to the General fund of the County. As an example, in a market where values are already depressed in the county this will cost the prospective buyer $8,000 on the average $200,000 home.

For those people that own homes this will be a fee that the seller will in fact pay regardless of the fact that this will be part of the buyers fee to transfer the property.

IN OTHER WORDS YOUR PROPERTY VALUES JUST WENT DOWN AN ADDITIONAL 3% WITH THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ACTIONS YESTERDAY.

When a No vote doesn't count

The conveyance fee is actually $4 per $1,000 for a 0.4% fee. The more important issue here are the actions of the politicians in raising a fee they control when the taxpayers told them emphatically last election to live within their budgets. Remember their actions, not their words the next election.
Thank you the math correction

Thank you Picktown03 for the correction. I was filled with rage reading that this morning. Even though I am a Republican these three are NEVER getting my support again. Sadly I worked with them in both the primary and general elections.

''Good news'' for some out there..

...at least, from the viewpoint of the ''I AM ALREADY HERE AND NO ONE ELSE SHOULD BE ALLOWED IN HERE'' crowd, who have, on occasion, stated that falling property values would help keep people from moving into the PLSD.
