I appreciate the answer on the city school district issue. Initially, there does not seem to be any real reason why we could not make that change, if so desired. Not knowing what the true pros and cons are on this makes it difficult, but it is a matter for studying.

I wonder if this question can be put to the school facilities committee that is still working on the update of the 10-Year Master Plan, and see what they can find on the subject? This committee has indicated a desire to continue even beyond their initial term, and I think it is a beneficial group for the district.

Merger is out of the question. It did not work for Lima Township & Pataskala and it will not work for Pickerington & V.T. Why would the unincorporated Violet Township residents want to saddle themselves with truckload of debt... I mean literally millions of dollars of city debt? To control development? No, I don?’t think so.

There are other intangibles that township residents enjoy on top of the fact that they don?’t pay the 1% city income tax and aren't saddled with millions of debt. If I wanted to build a deck in the township, I go to Home Depot and start building. In the city I?’ve got permits, fees, inspections, you name it. The city is loaded with bureaucracy. Look at the really dumb ordinances that city hall wastes their ?“official?” time on. If I were to leave my trash out for pick up and the trash truck was a day late (it happens), the city would fine me. CRAZY! Why don?’t you pass legislation to force resident to pay all the city?’s debt? It?’s simple, pay your debts first before micro-managing the lives of the citizens and, please, forget about us township folks. We want no part of city life.

If you want to see something fail with the exuberance of the Fairfield income tax levy, just put a merger issue on the ballot. Dr. Rigleman I respect your opinion, however the city caused their problems by their inaction over many, many years. We cannot be expected to come to the rescue just because the true magnitude of their problems have finally come to light. Forget about a merger. Forget about it!
