Merger is Essential

A ''City'' School District?

Perhaps Mr. Rigelman (or someone else) can enlighten us on how to go about merging the city and township into a city, and change the PLSD to a city school district.

If the merger happened, wouldn't it become necessary (for the PLSD to become a ''city'' school district) to either ask Columbus for permission to annex or take over that part of the school district currently in Columbus, or ask the Columbus schools to take over that area? And what a ruckus THAT would raise either way!

And aren't there parts of the PLSD currently in Liberty and Madison Twps? How would that affect this proposal? Does all land in a school district have to be actually in a specific city in order for a disrrict to be called a city school district?

If anyone knows the answers to these questions, please help us out.
QUESTION FOR MAC AND RIGELMAN

WOULD A MERGER ELINIATE ALL THE ''GIVEAWAYS'' PROMISED IN THE ANNEXATIONS? I DOUBT IT. ALSO, I DO NOT REMEMBER THAT MOST OF THE ANNEXATIONS(WEATHERALL AND DONLEY GROUND IN THE SOUTH) HAVE BEEN IN THE COURTS FOUR YEARS.

QUESTION ALSO FOR MR. RIGELMAN. FOR A MERGER THERE IS REQUIRED A VOTE BY BOTH ENTITIES TO ACCOMPLISH IT. DO YOU BELIEVE THE TOWNSHIP PEOPLE WOULD VOTE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT DEBT IN THE CITY OF PICKERINGTON?

IF YOU WOULD FOLLOW THE CURRENT DECISIONS ON ZONING IN THE TOWNSHIP, THE DEVELOPMENT IS DECIDEDLY LESS DENSE IN VIOLET TOWNSHIP THAN IN
PICKERINGTON. IN ADDITION, PLEASE POINT OUT THE GREAT DEVELOPMENTS WHICH HAVE OCCURRED IN PICKERINGTON TO THIS POINT OUTSIDE OF STRIP MALLS AND CONDOS. MUCH OF THEIR CURRENT MONEY MAKERS WERE ANNEXED FROM THE TOWNSHIP.

Hearing next month

Mr. Rookstool

The southern annexation of 316 acres is schedule for a court hearing in March. This annexation does include the Donley property. In fact the township is the ones that have keep it in court.

Now your short sightedness in what you are saying is the reason the developers have taken advantage of us for so long
