3.22 per acre for Violet?

Posted in: PATA
Dear Pickerington Residents:

We want to inform you and also ask for your help against another assault by the Central Ohio Builders.

Dominion Homes has is in contract to purchase the Ricketts property of 173 acres located on Refugee Road and Pickerington Road across from the North High School. They have or they are in the process of donating 24 acres to the Pickerington Schools. That leaves them with 149 acres GROSS to develop. The current zoning calls for 30,000 square foot lots. That is less that 1.5 lots per acre.

DOMINION WANTS TO PUT IN 481 LOTS ON THIS 149 ACRES.

THAT IS A DENSITY OF 3.22 LOTS PER ACRE.

You will have an opportunity to speak out against the proposal. Please attend the meeting of the Violet Township Zoning Board and tell the Zoning Board and Trustees that you don't want them to change the zoning to allow an additional 268 more homes above the current zoning limit, homes that are certainly not needed in the Pickerington area . We appreciate their offer to donate the 24 acres, but just the additional homes will require 11 new classrooms and 11 more teachers. We will go through the value of their gift before we get that first RED cent from these improved properties.

Please show up at the township trustees office on October 19th, 2004 at 7:30 PM and let them know your feelings. If you can't attend send a letter to the trustees to make your feelings known. If you know a friend in the school district that would be concerned please pass this message along to them.

Thank you

School Donation

I am curious what it is expected the school will do with the 24 acres. Vuild a school? I mean there are over a hundred acres on the existing site. Didn't the pathetic board tell us that this site would mee ALL future requirements? Didn't they tell us during this latest bond issue down our throats that there was ample room on the existing site for both a middle and elementary school? What benefit is there to getting another 14 acres in an area where they already have enough room? Would the schools plan for another sports entertainment complex? More training fields? Their own private band competition venue?

Here's an idea - how about we bring all the buses back from licking county and park them on the 24 acres? Just the fuel savings alone should save enough money to build a bus driver entertainment complex. Yeah, this is a good idea. Bring home our buses. Bring home our buses.
