It appears that TWO MORE MONTHS is a typical John Kerry voter and plans to vote for him. I read a poll in the last few days where 87% of those that claim they will vote for John Kerry actual are voting against George W. Bush. The media has been successful in painting the President as a war monger and fighting an unnecessary war. The Democratic Party and its leaders have gone so far as to call George W. Bush a lair.
First as a George W. Bush supporter, I find the two military records that were recorded over 30 years ago as a non issue. I don?’t believe that any of us that are going to vote will consider those records in our determination of voting for our perspective candidates.
To debunk some of the claims about George W. that he was AWOL from the National Guard. The whole purpose of the National Guard is to allow civilians to carry on with their private lives while keeping current on Military training for times when their country may need them. Recently two soldiers from the Columbus area were killed in action in Iraq and both were in the National Guard.
Clearly George W. Bush could have gotten a college deferment like Bill Clinton and remained in College. Volunteering for a Fighter Pilot in the National Guard is not being a draft dodger. The fact that the Kerry camp is now holding up forged PRIVATE documents to state that George W. didn?’t take a flight physical and disobeyed orders is ridicules. If they are going to rely on official documents to say they prove the Kerry medal flap then they should rely of official documents that gave George W. an honorable discharge.
The Political influence and his family pulling strings to get him into the Guard to avoid the draft is just as ridicules. The fact is most officer positions in our Military are made by ?“POLITICAL INFLUENCE?”. To get into the three Military Academies requires an appointment from a member of Congress. My family was dirt poor, my father was self employed and we never had any health insurance, he never received one dime from unemployment insurance and yet I was offered an appointment to the Naval Academy. I worked for a US Senator?’s son from Florida and he made the arrangements. I turned the appointment down when I realized how many more years I had to serve to get the free education.
Clearly John Kerry did volunteer for a second tour of duty in Viet Nam and only served 4 months of that tour because of three wounds. None of these wounds in these 4 months caused him to be hospitalized nor did they appear to disable him from his duties. Once offered the third Purple Heart Kerry opted to return to state side. Oliver North refused his third Purple Heart to remain with his infantry company. For Mr. Kerry?’s Viet Nam Service we all owe him a debt and our respect.
With that said, his actions after the war are what we question. We all should have heard his testimony in front of the US Senate on April 22, 1972 and how he claimed his fellow soldiers raped and pillaged Viet Nam. With only 4 months in country he observed these atrocities and yet failed to report them or take any actions to stop them. He betrayed his comrades in arms.
