It's a go
Kohl's has to have blueprints and etc.approved by the state and reviewed by other agencies as well. The latest revision set of blueprints is out and have JUST been delivered to several agencies for review. Unless they file bankruptcy, this is a go. Also heard Staples was thinking about going in with them just like at Hamilton Rd.

good response time
I am pleased with the speed of the city response, I received five emails from them after I put the question on the web to answer my inquiry. This is different from the past where questions went unanswered for YEARS. Thank you and if you have any questions, use this link to post them on the city site.

I will watch this with interest as I wonder if Kohl's will close the Eastland store, same with Staples. The giant sucking sound in Columbus, that goes on with each retail relocation to the outerbelt and beyond just gets louder each day. With the sale of Eastland mall to a new developer, and the announcement of Kaufman's to locate there, maybe these retailers will stay.
Frankly, I still will not shop there until it is safe, if ever. We personally know someone who was shot there luckily they survived. I haven't been there for years and do not intend to go back. I'll drive to Easton before I go closer and dodge bullets or gangs.

10 years
Eastland Mall is within 10 years of being Northland Mall (non existant). It is unfortunate (for Pickerington) that retailers are targeting 256 for relocation.
256 is within 15 years of being Hamilton Road...only without the lanes and service roads to manage traffic.
While I was checking out at the Sears Hardware store the shoplifting alarm sounded and nothing was done by any employee...I asked why don't you try to stop them?

More action will come
I think we should all be prepared to express our concerns whether it be here on this web site or at the Pickerington City Council. I believe there will be a movement for more commercial development and a slower rate of residential growth over the next few years. To do that it will take efforts of the entire community (Township and City (both)) coming together to develop the community the way we want it to look like in 25 years.
Comparisons to Eastland and Northland are very valid. We must keep the retail development down to a level of community support and not try too hard to bring in tax dollars from other sections of central Ohio because you see what happens when new lands start to develop near your retail locations. They just simply move away and leave the empty store carcasses.
I believe Kohl's will be just the tip of the iceberg.
