Northwood Hills POA

According to Mr. Norris, Northwood Hills now has a "Legal Team" representing it.  The last time I heard that term was during the O.J. Simson murder trial.  O.J.'s "dream team defense team" cost the man millions of dollars.  I understand that a homeowner who does not pay their dues, or violates the rules will be liable for these fees.  However, I did notice that the CY-2008 Projected Budget for attorney fees was $1000.00.  This $1000.00 is .0862% of the $11,600.00 budget.  In my opinion, I think the association only needs $1000.00 to pay two annual retainer fees to a "Team" of only two layers at $500.00 a piece.  Anyway, in my opinion, it appears to me that a "Legal Team" would cost much more than .0862% of the association annual budget.  My point is, is that I think that having a legal team will get costly and consume more of the annual budget, that means less money for all the other expenses.  The only way to cover this increasing expense is to raise the annual association dues.  Another thing I would like people to think about is selling your home.  What normal person would want to pay top market value for a house that comes with a "Legal Team" of attorneys?  When you go to sell your house, are you going to tell the potential buyer that it comes with a "Legal Team" of attorneys?  Remember the Pro-HOA motto, "it increases/maintains your property value".  Once again, I know that a lot of these attorney fees will have to be paid for by the association violator, but how will these attorneys get paid during the time it takes to get the money out of the association violator.  I know they can probably wait, but eventually, they will probably want to get paid in the mean time.  David.
