When the pool was first propsed, I was wary. Firstly, I knew the problems that would come from it, let alone the costs (security, insurance, etc) and you can bet non-members will use it. Later, the idea grew on me and my family voted that we would pay the one time fee and enjoy the propsed pool. Now I am hoping it does not get built, for one thing, we just had a child, and that money is no longer sitting around waiting to be spent.

But one main reason is this crime.

Imagine your teenage daughter or wife sunning by the pool with Montgomery thugs roaming the neighborhood. Let alone all the would-be perverts.

But I would much rather have the money spent on 3 gate systems that cars would have to go through.

I am not talking about a gate where you had to punch in your code, just a gate that slowly opens and closes for each car. There is a neighborhood (Wynn Ridge I think) in Montgomery that does this. This does NOT keep crime out, but it does force cars to come to an almost complete stop waiting for the gate to open. It is during this stop that a camera could easily get a license tag number.

However, I suppose the toll bridge would have gotten the last criminals tag number but either their cameras are terrible or they just don't want to help us residents that allow them to swim in cash.

I have heard very little about the pool since the "revote"

 

I was actually for it originally, but who wants to hang out by the pool in a neighborhood where so much crime happens?

 

Lets lower the crime or raise the gate :)

An unmanned, monitored security gate is an Excellent idea.  I've lived in 2 communities recently (GA and MO) that experienced similar criminal activity.  Installing a low cost gate (~$150/homeowner) significantly drove down crime (as much as 90% in one community).

 Criminals are looking for easy opportunities, easy access/escape and anonymity.  A monitored gate denies them all these. 

I would gladly contribute to this effort and applaud jp1976's proposed solution...smart brainstorming!
