I finally spoke to Paul last night, and to Joe Palmer a couple weeks ago; both reiterated that it was believed to have been razed in the late 1930s. Paul is in the process of getting some additional material about it. I came across this today, which suggests that it stood until the late 1960s! http://www.vcrail.org/history-vc/clegg/chapter1.html
