NWDA Committees
The real action of the NWDA occurs in its subcommittees, and that's where you can really make a difference. This page explains the charter of each committee, lists its meeting times and minutes, and details some recent accomplishments and projects. Most meetings are held at the Northwest Service Center, 1819 NW Everett.

Planning Committee
Chair: John Bradley
Meeting time: Every Thursday, 8:00 a.m.
Meeting location: Northwest Service Center, Board Room

The Planning Committee is composed of 9 to 13 members elected by the committee and confirmed by the NWDA board. At least one member of the Planning Committee must be an NWDA Board member.

Because land use issues do not occur in isolation, regular attendance by committee members is essential to provide them with an ongoing context for their decisions. Therefore: Before an NWDA member may be recommended to the Board for committee membership, that the member will sit in on meetings regularly for at least a 3-4 month period for orientation. Members who miss more than two consecutive meetings or miss five meetings within a 12-month period will be asked to reconsider their membership status.

Functions
The Committee is charged with reviewing, making recommendations, communicating findings to proper authorities, and testifying concerning all land use issues in the NWDA neighborhood.
The Committee bases its decisions on the Northwest District Policy Plan, the city's Comprehensive Plan, and existing neighborhood institutional agreements.
The Committee has been authorized by the Board to render decisions on behalf of the Board on land use issues. However, communication to the Board of current issues is considered important.
The Committee is also considered to be the negotiating body on behalf of the Board for institutional growth boundary agreements.
Any interested party who wishes to appeal the Planning Committee's decisions may appeal to the NWDA Board.
