All that talk about conservatives wanting all congressal members involved in sex scandals to resign is just talk.

You make a common mistake here.

Most conservatives call for the resignation of devious liars and perjurers.   We don't call for the resignations because of the sin of a sexual nature.  And most normal people can recognize a weasel and those that really don't have our country's best interest at heart.  Anything we can do to get those real enemies of our country to resign is great with me.  I don't care whether you like it or not.

Perhaps this conversation should have/could have occurred several years ago. Today it is a moot point.

I would respectfully disagree with you on this, JC.  I don't think that "most" conservatives are willing to look the other way at sins of a sexual nature.  I believe that someone who is dishonest enough to cheat on his or her wedding vows is also likely to be dishonest enough to cheat on matters of politics.  This conservative would prefer that the cheaters AND  the liars all take a hike.  Clinton should have gone.  The clown from South Carolina should have gone.  Weiner needs to hurry up and be gone.  Repulbican or Democrat, male or female, I don't want these lying scumbags making the decisions that affect all of our lives.  I prefer to believe that there are some honest ones out there.  It's up to us to weed them out.

I also prefer to blieve that there are honest ones, but proving it grows harder each passing day.

But you can't bring yourself to say Vitter should be gone.   Nor have you said the same for Gingrich, Giuliani, Craig or Ensign, to give you a short list.

You've demostrated the inconsistancy of Cons.
