"Banks have found it more economical to pay for labor, material, construction and installation of ATMs than pay a teller to hand out paper money." And just how many banks thought that staying open 24 hrs a day, like ATMs, was a great idea? Not many it seems. Convenience wins again. I can remember when stores were not open on Sundays and certainly no stores were open 24 hrs/day! I doubt that paying a teller was upmost on the minds, I think it was the changes in society that wants everything RIGHT NOW that has changed the way business is performed.
