Here my gripe,  joggers who can't use the sidewalk.  We had to pay big $$ for a sidewalk in front of our house.  We couldn't do the work,Oh no, had to pay to have it done.  We keep it clear of snow during the winter, but here are the joggers running in the road and not along the side of the road, down the road.  Some morning in the dark and fog one of them will get hit and then whose fault will it be?  The poor driver of the car.

OK I'm done now.

Good call, Janitor.  I have never understood the logic of running in the street rather than on the sidewalk.

The short stretch of Mulberry needs to be widened and there should be a sidewalk added on at least one side.  I bet that this piece of road gets as much traffic as any place in town.  And why is it that it's a 35 mph zone, while Lucas, from Houser out to the bypass with only Elder Implement on the street, is a 25?

Just wondering.  Had a near miss yesterday, heading SB on the bypass coming up to Mulberry and the yellow flashing started.  Not going to get one of those tickets so I hit my brakes and stopped, at a green light.  Nearly got rear-ended by a truck that made the lane switch and went through the green light before it changed to yellow.  Needless to say the wave wasn't with all fingers to me.

So my dilema, is the city going to be responsible when someone gets hit at this or any other similar intersection?  Had they not installed the cameras or changed the light timing I would not have been in this situation.  And to beat you to the punch, no the truck was not tailgating and I did feel a bit of guilt to force them to make the move but again I am not going to get one of those tickets.

I feel it is not if someone gets hit but when and then the excuses will commence.

You make a good point on speed limit inconsistancy in Muscatine.  Here are a couple more examples.  The limit is 35 mph on Mulberry from the bypass to just past Tipton Rd.  That stretch is two lane and runs by an elementary school.  Yet, on Houser between Mulberry and Cedar where there is a center turn lane, the limit is just 30mph.  The part of Mulberry you cite is especially hazardous for other reasons.  There is a school bus stop near the convenience store so, there are groups of kids present at times and, the sharp curve without shoulders even more dangerous when the road is slick.  Yet Mittman Rd between bypass and houser without curve or ditch, or school bus stop is 25mph!
