With Iowa having some of the worst, if not the worst water quality of its streams and lakes in the nation, the DNR is cutting over 100 jobs. This doesn’t seem prudent. It should make everyone upset but especially people who fish, swim, boat, water ski or drink water.

They made the decision based solely on the Governor’s budget proposal not even waiting a few days for the legislature to pass the budget. Even less prudent. Is this why Branstad picked Roger Lande?

??????

I don't think so.  You are either misinformed or lying for political reasons.  What's your source?

From the DNR's own home page: "When we consider the current status of water quality within the state of Iowa, we find that Iowa has generally good quality surface waters and groundwaters. However, threats to the quality of both surface waters and groundwater exist, and small portions of the state's waters have serious pollution problems."

By the way, the DNR is not the prime cultivator of "clean" water in Iowa.  The citizens, farmers, business owners, etc. do that.

Exactly what does "generally good quality" mean?

Malboy;

May 11, 2011: "The only full-time positions to be eliminated are in the Geological and Water Survey Bureau, which will lose three employees, and 13 University of Iowa employees under contract with the agency. In addition, 116 part-time positions...will be trimmed."..."The department has more than 1,100 employees, according to its website."

 October 21, 2009: "DES MOINES - Gov. Chet Culver has released a wide-ranging list of proposed state government budget cuts that calls for laying off 791 state government employees and leaving another 529 positions vacant....

“It is very important to note that this is the starting line, not the finish line, “Culver said."
