Can Muscatine Survive?

Posted in: Muscatine

Can the City of Muscatine survive and grow as a community?  The Census for Muscatine has demonstrated almost stagnation for the past 10 years.  Muscatine has a major polluter thereby limiting any new industry opening up increasing employment.  Existing industry is actively resisting paying sufficient wages to allow the survival of the middle class.  City government is robbing Peter to pay Paul by floating General Obligation Bonds to cover operating expenses.  County Attorney's office is empire building, which will lead to other departments doing the same.  Downtown entering into a slow death.

Where are we heading?

So, did you think this one up all by yourself?  While I continue to enjoy the community, my well-paying job, excellent schools, wandering the shops in the downtown, and a nice shopping corridor on the east side, you continue to whine.

Might I suggest a move to Rock Island?

I've said it many times on this forum.  I've had my chances to move, but there's really no place I'd rather be than here in good ol' River City.
