Alright now, I must say, those looked terrific. I bake the outer shell for about fifteen minutes and then dip them in white then light chocolate. Truffels are scrumptious!

Okay now perhaps I can illustrate it this way. I have among ALL the other such berms of books and magazines and scarp-books, some of the most(by today's standards) derogatory politically incorrect clippings I have seen or cared to own. They are about a hundred or so comics? called "Hambone's Intimations" and please trust me in saying, that I would hesitate, but not stop anyone of any other race today see them. They were from when I was a girl, You might ask, how, who, why? Well I can be honest, they were my grandmother's and they were kept for a good reason. Shame. My family had a little land and grew cotton in Ark. while there were many whites who did well, there were few black families that did. (As told to me by my mother) Gramms didn't trust Coloreds and supposedly had good reason. I was never told what that was, but it did result in jailing for a black fella who most said didn't do what he was said to have done. Be that as it may, gramms passed before I was old enough to know her very well. Mother kept clipping them until they stopped printing it, and said that she looked at these things often and got reclusive afterward. I was a late surprise to my folks and ended up with alot of things they had, especially this sort of thing. But anyway, these clippings are so unkind to the black race and quite valuable as historical references, that I was offered several hundred dollars for them some years ago just before our move. It is just another example as to how this race had been treated and looked down upon well after Lincoln did the right thing.

I will not pretend that there is not this racial tension still, even after all this time. I will also remind EVERYONE that it matters only from within our own hearts and souls, how we project our feelings, fears, prejudices and kindnesses toward each other, that truly shows others what we hold inside. I slip up at times and have said things that although meant nothing derogatory, might have been perceived as such. Treading lightly there hasn't been something I cared to do and though I understand how that might seem to some, I am not the type to worry too much about this BAZARE fear that we are to insensitive regarding some things we say that might seem racist. Just as I take no offense from any other person of other races regarding me. Perhaps it was where and how I was raised? Or, that I had close and direct relationships with black children and their families since childhood? My mother told me once that Gramms' would have been upset at my friendships and lack of color distinctions. We were people, we were neighbors, and we were friends. Nothing more and nothing less. You show a blind man kindness and understanding and he doesn't know what color you are nor does he care. A child doesn't walk it's first yard feeling he or she is better than another. We learn to hate, we learn to fear, we learn to distrust and think thoughts we wouldn't care to have thought of us. As a teacher I had students who were argumentative, hateful, prejudiced, both white and black. But not once did it get fostered by me. Not once were these children given an upper hand over another. I took that from home to work to church and to the heart.

There are folks who will never understand that perhaps, thankfully there are those who will and do. If these kinds of things were taught to everyone ALL the time, well then these issues wouldn't be issues. It might take some time to finish the job, but I think we are on the right road finally.

God Bless.
