I have hopes , obviously. Fears are there as well, but what can we do ourselves?
I agree with both you fellas, but like you say, I too don't see how, in real terms that is, that it has a thing to do with Obama either. Just like Bush. He didn't call up Exxon and say: "Hey, we need less gas and higher prices." He and Clinton did however sign into law legislation that has allowed some of this to occur regarding market constraints and manipulation by traders and energy giants, to run amok. I'm not saying it's dirctly their fault, but just like Obama will have, the president has some power within his threats and mighty pen. You know, we let these corporations lead us in the direction "they" want us to go while they sit back and chortle at our incessant finger pointing directly to our leaders and they just keep manipulating the market with energy lobbyists and greedy (Phil Gramm)or weak willed representatives (Kennedy) who get nothing done with regard to controlling these loose oil lions. They claw and slash our legislation from the shadows while the only real power we as the people have, is either a president that is willing to veto anything that intelligent leaders see as greed and destructive, or we just..STOP. Don't buy anything we absolutely don't need, and stay by the space heater hoping for a warmer day with our thermostats on "almost frozen," trying to save a buck or two, watch our programs and go to work. No movie going, quick runs to see what they have in the clearance isles, buying an extra pound of beef or gallon of milk, or topping the tank off because we have a few extra bucks. Shut em down, and let it rot on the shelves if that's what it takes to send the message to these greedy corporate scum, that we are fed up. If all this seems futile, then give up and lay down your pocketbooks and wallets at their feet. I didn't get this old because I shut up and turned the other cheek ALL the time. I complained to the teller at the station, I let him/her know I don't blame that poor working stiff, but they can tell their boss can't they? Or I ask for the manager. I let the dairy clerk at Super store-X know that I will go to Aldi's to by my cheese cheaper, and not have to drive so far as well. I let the printer know that their news is too expensive and I will be watching more free television for my news. I let them ALL know and sooner or later if WE ALL do that, it will get to the right ears.
Who knows if it will work now, It has in the past and besides what in tarnation else do we have for options? Oh poop, that's my truffles.
God Bless.
