Thsi housing/economic crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation fron the evil Bush admin. It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the 1990's, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were authorized to approve subprime - risky - loans. What is a subprime loan? It is a loan that the recipient is likely not able to repay (people whose income does not support the loan ie welfare, low income, unemployment. The goal of this rule change was to help the poor-which especially would help members of minority groups. But how does it help these people to give them a loan that they can't repay? They get into a house, yes, but when they can't amke the payments, they lose the house - along with their credit rating. They end up worse than before AND foreclosures in your neighborhood bring down the value of your home. Do you see how this downward begins and progresses? The crisis was completely forseeable and in fact many did foresee it. One political party and the Executive Branch tried repeatedly to tighten up the rules. The other party blocked every such attempt and even tried to loosen the rules. Furthermore, Freddie & Fannie were making political contributions to the very members of Congress who were allowing them to make irresponsible loans. So why are Freddie and Fannie, who are quasi-federal agencies, allowed to make contributions to these politicians (Frank, Dodd, Obama). Why is all of this happening? WHY? Both Sen Dodd and Congressman Frank - democrats - denied that there were any problems and refused the Bush Admin requests to set up a regulatory agency to watch over Freddie and Fannie and they were still pushing for these agencies to go even furthur in promoting subprime mortgage loans almost up to the minute they failed These are the facts: this financial crisis was completely preventable. The party that blocked any attempt to prevent this was the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. The party that tried to prevent it was THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. We've always been told to 'follow the money' - right to the presidential candidate who is the number two recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae - Barack Hussein Obama. If that candidate were McCain there would be NOTHING ELSE reported on/in MSM. MSM has tried to convince us that the housing/economic crisis and EVERYTHING BAD - even bad weather- can be blamed on Bush and the Republicans. The truth is that John McCain tried as a Senator to do what it took to prevent this crisis and that the Bush Admin tried more than once to regulate spending in a responsible way. This has been a Congress-caused crisis, beginning during the Clinton Admin with Democrats leading the way into the crisis and blocking every effort to get out of it in a timely fashion. They tell us that it will take some time for all of this to 'right itself' - but if we have more of the same foxes to guard the chicken house what do YOU think happen? |

Ah, daryl, but these aren't conspiracy theories. They're just events taken out of context and/or purposely misconstrued to add fuel to the conspiracy fire. However, I'm afraid it appears as though you suffer from that other affliction of modern day conservatives: selective hearing. While you may believe all of these things, I'm pretty sure that all of these issues have been addressed multiple times by the Obama campaign.
BTW - tried any good new beers lately?
As for the beers, the Schell Oktoberfest is a nice, slightly sweet dark. I had to go to Minnesota to get it though.
