I have a sneaking suspicion that it is your uncertainty in your own beliefs that causes you to use so many words defending them.

?

Perhaps, I don't know yet. But aside of the obvious differnces of opinion, I kinda like your "SNAP" hit and run responses!

My thesis centered upon the sociological foundations of American society as it was veiwed by our previous landlord, King George and his subjects. No...... not GW. It scored well, but wished I'd chosen an economics thriller instead. I just love numbers, but found balancing numbers hard to teach to others. I was told relentlessly by the Mr. that I should have been an english or history instructor. He says I certainly have no trouble recalling our history, especially If it was "his fault" wether he knew it or not.

This notion that we need to say less in a big way escapes me. Always has. I fell ill and had to retire from teaching six years ago, seven soon, and have recently found that this is a fine source for keeping my weakening faculties from vanishing totally. So in the future should we cross swords, please forgive that I am an old pencil in a new sharpener.

I have always found wordiness a better way to make clear to most, what it is that is meant; no second guessing or literary confusion on my part. Dichotomy gets wasted on most people. I found too that hyperbole can help those (though might seem presumptuous) see your points more dramatically and thus it tends to remain longer. It is actually an old educators tool to get through to those young gray mattered sponges who at times seemed to be wrapped in plastic bags.(hard to reach) Sorry, you already knew that. (Gotcha)

You owe me.... a lot of words here.

God Bless

I guess I have found that wordiness is not a better way to clarify, but is instead an easier way to confuse and mislead.  Hyperbole is effective only when not overused, and if needed often only masks a weak position.

Are we done throwing around the ten cent words now?

Oh how we snoop.

I thought I pulled those mental shades earlier. Okay you got a point that round, but one outta ten isn't good. My belief system can seem reactuinary at times, I'll admit that I'd make a satisfactory judge. Not great, but I'd get by. Most times I see things so clearly, the words just fly accross the pages and pages and okay, I'll stop that. So as you might have seen, I get to throwing them down so fast I don't check my work or evencareenoughattimestohitthespace key. I wrote an editorial a couple years ago that was read on CNN regarding the demise of our clean air act(s) that GW butchered, or actually signed the butchering. I was happy and sinfully proud, until they cut it into a third of it's grandiose self. But hey, it made it's mark and thrust me into.......nothing at all.  But I got it. IT  WAS  TOO  LONG and the point seemed clear. I didn't pass away, okay....(die)

Tell you what, while you're chopping into some poor guys innermost passions, use a few more words and I'll reply with a few less.......................................words, see I couldn't help it.

Have fun

God Bless
