Thank you, I obviously needed that "simple" correction. Knowing that a 2/3 majority is needed to overide any veto, (like today) you and other like-minded sorts wouldn't overlook that very important fact throughout these past 67 years? Nor that given.... the strengths of the highest office in the land had been severely diminished by one of our history's most unscrupulous presidents. (Nixon) Nor too... that Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush ( who called Ronnie's Trickle Down plan, VOODOO ECONOMICS) perpetuated the biggest unimagineable scams from the oval office prior to Iraq? No not uber smart people who obviously paid attention to acurate history? I'll remain non-judgemental here but will certainly take exception to mindless coagulant blind faith. The welfare state was the ultra bailout of our history(certainly) I'll give you that, but it came amidst the unrelenting cruelty of an economic calamity and world starvation yet unseen before. It came with the welcomeness conveyed to those tiny dears begotten by grandma's loving arms at the threash-holds of every warm Christams day visit ever since 1941.
The Bull and Bear markets were in control as were the republicans(2/3 Majority) who led the greatest excesses in our young history just prior to 1928. Warned by Hoover to rein in those reckless rebelious bankers and brokers and lackluster leaders (Warren G Harding, Calvin Coolige))who spent more time under the table than atop. The rebubs turn in control and weak dems turned a blind eye. Bingo bango! Depression on a scale back then that makes this modern mess look like Armagedon. I know you know how that turned out. So now, today, we have a congress with a tiny 35 vote majority, a pres. who can veto anything he wishes with impunity and a repub. minority that walks out of any vote they hate and then we get.......Calss? Anyone? Yeah, there you go.... a modern day bailout that rivals the "new Deal" but class, we don't actually get the modern day new deal, what we get is a terrific bandaid slapped upon a masive gaping wound that cannot possibly heal... until ..............Class? Okay, Tommy has his hand raised..............Tommy: Another New Deal? HURRAY! Tomy gets the star today class, that's right! The next new deal! And, as we already learned from the past, or did we? The richest 10% who get more and more and then fall on those huge money fattened asses, because the middle who gets left out another 40 years, will eventually say: Enough! As before, the day will come when the hidden and somber dems stand up, get counted and take back enough of thier country to fix the messes that the Majority of Repubs propogated through the "HOW can I get more and pay less, so I can pretend to be preparing to spread the wealth while ducking my "Patriotic duty" fiscal obligations of fairness in governance.
Yes there has been a congressional democratic majority though they were in a chinese lovelink. And under Clinton when the Republican "Contract with America" in 1993, returned that total power to them, they forgot to mention that it was actually a contract with, not America, but Corporate America. Proven pointless to banter over Constitutional relevance here, now, it does however seem important to note that when you run a business the way the 2/3 Republican majority did from 1993 to 2007, regardless of oval office control, that business is doomed to fail. Tax cuts feel good, that is until the day comes when 300 plus million mouths need to be fed and 1.7 billion vehicles need fuel, and 400 million homes need heat and cool air and 50 million bodies need healed and medicated. Then toss in a few humongus natural dissasters and couple wars, one pointless......Then we begin to understand what the "fair share" clause means. That is unless we forgot to remind the top 10% that those cuts have done a tremendous disservice to out NATION. That our legislators from 1993 to 2007 were focused on making a bad situation even worse by telling that top 10% that they could now relocate corporate venues to nontaxable, factory closeable, unemployment bloating locations out of IRS jurisdiction. Oh yeah, and you can also rebuild your plants outside our borders and gain massive overhead breaks by creating foriegn trade of goods and services outside our borders while reaping profits in the thousands of percentages, fattening your personal portfolios to gluttonous, tick-like preportions. You know why Americans are so fat these days? It's because Dubuque hotdogs and Our Family brand beans are about the only gastly sustinance 270 million of us can aford to eat. Now I ask you, wouldn't you like to zip back to 1927 and tell those fatheaded fools to get back to working on honest and fair regulatory legislation and zip ahead again to 1992 and tell those pointy-headed fools to correct thier greedy mindsets and legislate from common sense rather than corporate minded greediness. while for once.............Truly Feeling Our Pain?
Again, and I just detest belaboring the point here, but when it comes to a little more in the fridge or the cupboard, I'll take that tiny share of intitlement, with a tear perhaps, but I will. One day mr. or ms. you just might have to thank that "new deal" minded representative(usually a Democrat) for your very existance while they raise the tax on Bill Gates to the same percentage as yours. What does that mean you might ask? Simple(there I go again) when you and I walk into menard's and gather our goods, we arrive at the checkout isle, and you pay for your $10,000 selections and offer up your obligatory taxes, you happen to overhear... that becuase I had spent $20,000 my tax obligation will be 5% less than yours. "Hey!" you lament. "She poops like me, walks like me, talks like me, why should I pay more tax because she had more money to spend?" Do you understand it now? The repubs actually think that way. I'm so sorry if that SIMPLE economic prociple escapes some, but by God that's right, it's fair and above all else, it puts more food on the economic table. If it makes sense to cut taxes... then cut them for those 270 million who drop all to nearly all of their hard earned money just to break even year after year. Give us the lion's share of 830 Billion bucks! It took the Bushies months to hammer a deal(third by the way since 2000) to stimulate the ENTIRE failing job-tossing economy, and just a few days to wrap thier greedy, not my fault souls, around a WALL STREET bailout.
Please? and God Bless America, we need it now more than ever.
