The EPA is about to drop a hammer on Muscatine, because of a local companies polluting, and possibly causing way, way to many cases of lung cancer.   I was told that the national average of people deaths per 100,000 population is 189 per 100,000.  The State of Iowa is 199 per 100,000.  Are you ready for this.... Muscatine is 544 per 100,000.

Next January or Feb. the EPA will announce a non attainment area of yet an unknown size in Muscatine.  Simply stated this means an area designated as a health hazard for people to live in, possibly because it will kill them.  The preliminary area is everything southerly of Lucas Street.  Yes that includes all of the area of Muscatine down close to our grain processing Company,.

Some of you people live in these areas.  Do you enjoy being fed an early death by one of our local manufacturers?

Good morning Republican.  Glad to see you posting although the content of your post is ominous at best.  You are now the 31st to post since I have started posting again.

First of all, I would like to know where you obtained all this information.  I will not pretend to think of this in any way as something that is not important.  It is.  I know our governmental agencies rarely perform at the highest levels but if this is as serious as it sounds, why are they waiting until January or February to do something about it.  You seem to have some of the facts so why has't this information been reported locally?

Thank you for that information.  I tried the link several times on google and the journal and came up blank.  I had heard and read something about air pollution in that area but had not seen any statistics as those recently posted here.  Any other suggestions?
