obama and the national anthem!

Posted in: Muscatine

Who cares about a US senator and presidential candidate's level of patriotism and the fact he lies about it? That's not an issue? Funny how liberals think that!

Wow, Ryno...your emotions are letting you embarrass yourself now. Even if there were a flag to the left, Obama is busted for not following US Code on the matter. Where are his hands during the national anthem?...unless he considers his crotch...a'hem...the ((heart)) of the matter. (Sorry, folks...a bad one; right?)

And as for you being an aspiring journalist; using snopes further calls your credibility into question:

Seriously.

1. Who cares? Let's get back to the issues.

It's a respect thing, and for some people that is an issue.  For some people, the flag and the national anthem stand for something.  For some of those people, that something is lives lost and blood shed in defense of this nation.  For others, that something varies in definition, but is nonetheless important to them; one needn't be a veteran to be a patriot.

Personally, I don't care whether or not Obama saluted the flag or scratched his genitals.  It's just not a big issue for me, even though I guess I've as much reason to be mad about it as anyone else.  However you Obama supporters, blinded by his hollow "HOPE" message, need to step back and recognize that yeah, maybe, just maybe your golden boy was disrespectful and a segment of society has a right to be upset about it.  Maybe you should also consider why you're not upset too.  But I guess that would mean removing those blinders, and we all know the likelihood of that happening...

Just because it's not an issue for you Ryan, doesn't mean for a second that it's not an issue.

Very correctly stated and the anthem and the flag mean many things to many people. However the one concept that should remain very clear to everyone who looks upon our flag or hears the words of our anthem is the fact that they have a right given through citizenship that states they can believe as they choose and are free to do so. Meaning it's not an issue. Just vote for what you feel is right. If you believe those that shed blood in defense of our country knew and understood the freedoms for which they fought, then you can accept the fact that the blood they shed was shed equally for those that opposed the effort as well as for those who supported the effort.

Right, but the problem is that a man who wishes to be president needs to be mindful and respectful of those he represents.  With respect to servicemen again, he needs to be especially mindful of their feelings because they've made the ultimate sacrifice, and the president may call them to do so again.  In light of that, Obama need not salute the flag, but should he?  Absolutely, without a doubt.

Obama DID screw up, and while there's nothing wrong with a guy making mistakes, being an apologist doesn't help the situation.
