You could interview local business owners and see how things are going....I wonder just how much the "economic downslide" is really effecting things.  Is there really a drop in sales? Or are people spending the same as a year or two ago?  I see no change where I work.

Ryan, I like the idea that freedom has, go visit the local businesses. We here at Music X Change advertise in a lot of places and I still find that there are a lot of people that don't even know that we are here. We have been here for almost a year.

Also you could instead of looking for neg stuff to talk about find out what is going on this summer and write about that. Like we are having a "Best of Muscatine Battle of the Bands" Only local bands are allowed to enter for obvious reasons. Great prizes will be given out including a recording packages in our recording studio.

Come out and chat with me and get all the info.

Ryan, positive news would be great and we all would take a heaping helping of that. I'm sure that I am not alone in wanting to see some positive changes in our community.

We just incurred raise in our garbage fees. Wouldn't it be great if we had curbside recycling so we wouldn't fill up those landfills so quickly and perhaps save a little on resources while we're at it? People DO go to those recycle trailers around town. The bins for plastics are ALWAYS full and the ones for cardboard are usually full also as well as the ones for newspapers. The big problems that I see with the present system is that there are not enough receptacles or they don't get emptied often enough. Also, there is this small segment of persons who are not careful - perhaps just plain slobs - who let the stuff blow around and it looks crappy. The one behind the mall is a mess - first it is a challenge to get there with all the pot holes. So even if we complain, it is because we can see that some of these things would improve our community, and that would be a positive!
